hello everyone, I am a new member to the board, and owner of new to me Kayo MR125. I cleaned carb using great step by step instructions that I found here, but ran into a bit of an issue when I was putting whole thing together. Issue isnt with the carb, but with choke mechanism. It seems that either I have a brain fart and everything is fine (while I think it is not) or I somehow messed up choke lever and cable, or installed something wrong.

When my choke lever is pushed all the way in (choke off) flapper on the carb is fully open. When I pull choke lever out all the way, flapper closes.

Here are 2 pictures that show what I mean.

Choke completely off:

Choke on:

Hope that someone is still active here, and could help me out resolve this final issue that i spent hours banging my head against the wall.

Thanks

I'll tell you the truth, I don't remember much about the stock carb. But I can pull it out of storage in the next day or two and take a look. But it sounds like it is working properly. The choke (lever pulled like second picture) closes the butterfly which causes a much higher suction for the fuel.

What is happening, hard to start? The little bit of time I ran the stock carb., it never did want to start without kicking it like 10 to 20 times and getting the throttle turned just right. I'd suggest just cracking the throttle a little while holding the choke and kicking it over, should help getting it started.

BTW, get a filter cleaning kit and wash that filter, then oil it lightly. You can try starting the bike without the filter on, it might be causing a problem.

Hello Greg, thanks very much for the info. It may then be that I just had a brain fart, as in my head I was thinking that when choke is engaged that butterfly should be open, and when choke is off, butterfly should be closed. Looking at your reply you mentioned that when choke is on, like in 2nd pic, butterfly should be closed , which is the case.

I havent tried to start it yet, as I was sure that something is wrong, but clearly that isnt the case. Will bolt it up and fire her up with fresh gas tomorrow.

Thanks again.
